Parent Network of Western New York presents the workshop Transition to High School on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Beginning at age 15, an Individual Education Program (IEP) is required to provide a section for the student's future called a transition plan. Participants will develop and understanding of graduation requirements and the transition process by focusing on identifying the student's interests, strengths and needs for all areas of life.

What is it? Who writes it? What does individualized mean? In this workshop participants will learn about the parts of an IEP, receive tips and tools to become more involved in the planning process.

Parent Network of Western NY presents the workshop Bedtime Routines for Kids with Special Needs on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. This workshop was developed to assist parents and caregivers living with children with Autism who have sleep difficulties. The presentation will provide an overview of common sleep problems and treatment options, as well as an in-depth explanation of specific behavioral strategies shown to be effective. Participants will leave the workshop with practical, evidence-based plans to improve the bedtime behavior and/or sleep patters of their child.

As parents we teach children what is the right thing to do and what they should not do. The purpose of this workshop is to help parents recognize the early signs of conflict and put in place plans that can manage the conflict before it turns into a full blown storm.
