SPAN Parent Advocacy Network presents the webinar An Update on Cannabidiol (CBD) Use in Pediatric Treatment of Resistant Epilepsy will take place on Thursday, July 19 from 3 to 4 p.m. Severe childhood epilepsies are characterized by a high seizure burden and are often associated with neurodevelopmental delays. When traditional medications fail to control a child's seizures, families look to alternative treatments to help their children. One of these alternative treatments involves the use of a compound from the Cannabis Blant, Cannabidiol (CBD).

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound that has been shown to have anticonvulsive properties in a number of animal models of epilepsy. There is data about the use of CBD in children with intractable epilepsy and recently an advisory panel at the FDA unanimously voted to recommend approval for CBD to treat seizures in certain forms of childhood epilepsy.

This webinar will be presented by Brenda E. Porter, MD, PhD, Professor of Neurology at Stanford University. Click here to register for this webinar.
