Project GROW presents the Toilet Training Group Series featuring the Institute for Basic Research (IBR) and Parent to Parent of NYS on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Project GROW teaches specific behavioral techniques to improve communication and promote positive family interactions. Peer support is also provided.

Sessions include:

  • Thursday, March 9 - Session 1: Why Toilet Training? What you need to know before attempting to train your child
  • Thursday, March 23 - Session 2: The Task Analysis. The steps of toilet training
  • Thursday, March 30 - Session 3: Behavioral Techniques. Motivation tools for parents
  • Thursday, April 6 - Session 4: Individual Routine Guideline

P2plogo4x31.jpgParent to Parent of NYS presents a Medicaid Waiver Workshop on Wednesday, Mar. 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Institute for Basic Research (IBR). This workshop will offer the following:

  • Provide information and explain the process for the Medicaid Waiver Program, designed for children under the age of 18 who meet eligibility requirements based solely on the child's diagnosis and not on family income.
  • Introduce families to the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), and answer questions about eligibility, Medicaid Service Coordination, the Front Door, and Self Direction.
  • Educate families about service options that can help meet their child's needs including Community Habilitation, Respite, and Recreational Programs.
