One Million Voices a Photo Gallery on Down Syndrome Awareness will be held Thursday, Mar. 16 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, Mar. 26 at 3 p.m. In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, Mar. 21, a traveling photo exhibit will be on display in the atrium of the Seneca Falls Community Center courtesy of Gigi's Playhouse, an national network of achievement centers where individuals with Down Syndrome and their families have a place to learn, develop, grow and share.

The exhibit features photos and stories of children with Down Syndrome and their families. The gallery's goal is to "Change perceptions of Down Syndrome on person at a time until we reach one million new voices."

This exhibit is free and accessible to the public whenever the Seneca Falls Community Center is open.

The Arc presents the lecture Relax and Be Mindful - Why and How on Tuesday, Mar. 28 from 4:15 to 6:16 p.m. Mindfulness meditation and relaxation training as a way to increase focus and reduce both anxiety and aggressive behavior in people with developmental disabilities. Starbridge and SUPAC present a Family Empowerment Series, combination of in person and online learning sessions for families of children with disabilities. This free seven session series will run from Mar. 29 to May 17. The series will include trainings about the special education process and acquire skills to effectively advocate for children with disabilities, positive interaction between schools and families, RTI, IEP and 504 plans, transitioning and more. Individuals must participate in both the in person and online workshops to graduate from this series.

This series is open to all families of children with developmental, educational and suspected disabilities.

In person workshops will take place on Wednesdays, Mar. 29, Apr. 12, May 3 and 17 from 9:30 to 2 p.m. at Cayuga Community College in the staff dining room. Bring lunch, snacks and water will be available.

Online workshops will take place on Wednesdays, Apr. 5, 26 and May 10 and may be completed anytime during those weeks. Independent computer access is required.
