Syracuse University Parent Assistance Center (SUPAC) presents the five-part Family Engagement Series, each session will provide strategies and information to build upon the next in helping families to navigate and participate in the Special Education Process. Each session will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  1. Tuesday, Oct. 23: The Special Education Process
  2. Tuesday, Dec. 11: Continuum of Services and the Least Restrictive Environment
  3. Tuesday, Feb. 12: Getting Organized - Preparing for Your CSE Meetings
  4. Tuesday, Apr. 9: Understanding Diploma and Credential Options for Students with Disabilities
  5. Tuesday, Jun. 11: Promoting Learning over the Summer

New York State Special Education Taskforce presents Building Home, School and Community Partnerships to Address Trauma, Behavior and Anxiety in Children on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. If you are a parent, caregiver, teacher or service provider of a child who is impacted by trauma, exhibiting behavioral challenges, or struggling with anxiety, please join us for an important panel discussion to learn about important resources available to families in the North Country and consider how all stakeholders can work together to provide effective interventions to address this critical area of need.

Starbridge and Exceptional Family Resources presents the workshop Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 12 to 2 p.m. When a child’s behaviors interfere with learning, students and teachers need strategies to minimize those behaviors. Join us to explore the nature of a child’s behavior, when a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) should be requested, and how a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) can be put into place to support the whole team.
