YAI Transition to Independence

YAI logo.pngYAI presents Transition to Independence group meetings for young adults ages 17-21 on the Autism Spectrum who reside in Manhattan. Sessions will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the late afternoon and evening. Topics include Yoga and Mindfulness, Life Skills and Kitchen Skills. 

Mondays will feature Yoga and Mindfulness where young adults may engage in calming physical and mental activities that promote movement, relaxation, self-awareness, stress reduction and socialization.


The Wednesday group will focus on Life Skills where participants will develop and enhance life skills that focus on judgement, decision making, risk-taking, problem-solving and self-advocacy. Group topics include money management, community safety, self-care, relationships, and more!


On Fridays YAI will offer a class on Kitchen Skills where individuals will be introduced to cooking fundamentals like measuring, safety, and knife skills that are necessary to be able to prepare meals independently.
