The Adaptive Teen Time at the Brooklyn Public Library offers teens with and without disabilities the opportunity to learn skills and make friends in a collaborative environment that promotes creativity and critical thinking skills.

Brooklyn Public Library Inclusive Services presents Navigating Your Child's Disability: One-to-One Assistance on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Many situations require the assistance of an expert. Inclusive Services can provide one-to-one help for parents and children with: Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, early childhood services and programs, transition planning, transportation issues, camps, after school, and other community resources.

ADAPT Community Network presents the workshop OPWDD Services on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. If your child has a Developmental Disability they may be eligible for supports and services administered by the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). This training will educate families about service options that can help meet their child's needs including Community Habilitation, Respite, and Recreational Programs. Participants will gain an increased awareness and understanding of OPWDD eligibility criteria and the determination process necessary to obtain the Medicaid Waiver. This workshop will be presented by Julia Luppino of Parent to Parent of NYS.

From Preschool Special Education to Kindergarten on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children born in 2014 will start kindergarten in the fall of 2019. Moving from preschool to kindergarten marks an exciting new chapter in your child's life. In this workshop, we will address some questions you may have about the process and about New York City's public schools. Join us to learn about the transition to school-age special education services and the kindergarten application process. This workshop will be presented by Karen Samet (Director), Brooklyn Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC).
