Office for People With Developmental Disabilities presents Front Door Family Information Sessions which offer participants an understanding of OPWDD's mission and purpose; the process to become eligible for OPWDD supports services; types of supports and services available; and where individuals and families can go to get assistance. Families/Individuals are welcome to attend any session that is convenient for them. Families are only required to attend one session even if there are multiple people in the family to be represented.

Sensory Sensitive Storytime at Greece Public Library will take place on Wednesday, April 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children ages 3 through 8 are invited to move, sing and play at Sensory Sensitive Story Time. This program is free and open to children of all abilities, however, it is especially designed for children with sensory integration challenges. Children who have previous struggled to sit through other story times may find this a better fit.

Autism Up presents the 10th annual Social Skills Program for Children with Autism in collaboration with the Greater Rochester YMCA on July 10 through Aug. 18. This program is available to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders between the ages of 4 and 16. Specialized instruction makes it possible for the campers to be fully included in regular camp activities. The cost for this program is $550 for half-days or $900 for full-days. Financial assistance is available for this program through AutismUp's Richard and Nancy Dorschel Family Foundation and by YMCA's Invest in Youth Campaign. For information call 585-428-9011 or email.

Autism center logo whitebackground-01.jpgOntario ARC and Victor Parks & Recreation presents Free Wheel'n, and opportunity for all children to learn how to ride a bike with training wheels. Free Wheel'n will take place on Saturday, July 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dryer Road Park. Participants should bring the following:

  • Bike without training wheels
  • Helmet
  • Sunscreen
  • Wear sneakers (no flip flops/sandals/crocks)
  • Parent or guardian must be present

Autism services finger lakes logo.jpgAutism Services of the Finger Lakes at Happiness House presents the workshop Social Stories with Carol Gray on Friday, October 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This conference is for families and professionals featuring Carol Gray, a consultant to children, adolescents, and adults with Autism providing support via workshops and information, referral resources, and direct services for individuals with Autism, their families, and those who work on their behalf.

Carol is best know for the development of Social Stories, a well-respected evidence-based practice used worldwide with people with of all ages.

The cost for this workshop is $85 for parents or $110 for professionals and includes morning continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon dessert/coffee, plus ample free parking.
