Hi-5 Sports presents Basketball Season beginning in December. Hi-5 Sports strives to provide an environment which allows people with special needs to build self-esteem, confidence, and friendships through sports by providing opportunities to socialize, compete and exercise both their motor and life skills.

Basketball is offered for three skill levels including Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced.

Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center presents Aim High Children's Parent Group Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The topic of this meeting is Transition: Early Intervention to Preschool Special Education. This workshop will guide parents through the Early Intervention to Preschool Special Education transition in New York State. The session will identify the important steps in the process, changes to expect and critical decisions to be made. This meeting will take a detailed look at the similarities and differences between the Early Intervention Program and the Preschool Special Education Program. Parents participating in this workshop will be well prepared for the transition and have a better understanding of their role in the process.

Special Education Task Force presents the training Coordinating and Accessing Transition Services on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This presentation will demystify people's' fears about transition and coverage, and encourage school districts and guardians to work together in securing these services, what obligations parents or guardians have in helping students secure services, what programs are available, and the interplay of household income with these services.

Parent to Parent of NYS and Niskayuna School District's joint PowerPoint presentation Understanding How to Read an IEP will take place on Monday, Feb. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. At the end of the presentation parents and caregivers will be given an opportunity to participate in a Q & A session. This presentation is specifically geared to any parent, caregiver, or student who is in the process of, or currently has, an IEP ages preschool to 21.

Therapeutic Yoga for adult women (18 years+) living at home with families who have both Autism Spectrum Disorder and Anxiety will take place on Wednesdays from Mar. 6 through May 8 from 4 to 5 p.m. The yoga program is OPWDD approved.
