Hi-5 Sports presents Basketball Season beginning in December. Hi-5 Sports strives to provide an environment which allows people with special needs to build self-esteem, confidence, and friendships through sports by providing opportunities to socialize, compete and exercise both their motor and life skills.

Basketball is offered for three skill levels including Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced.

AIM High presents the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center (DSAHRC) Seminar with the topic Toilet Training, with two dates: Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. or Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. The seminar will be presented by Maude, Kaye, CPNP, who will provide a basic guideline for toilet training and talk about issues that are particular importance to children with special needs. She will go over physiologic and behavioral issues that can hamper progress, as well as sharing suggestions learned from the Pediatric Gastrointestinal professionals.

   

The sessions are as follows:

  • Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m.: at the AIM High Infants & Toddlers Parent Group meeting, Capital Region BOCES located at 900 Watervilet-Shaker Road, Albany, NY. Enter through the main entrance of the building. Signs will be posted.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at DSAHRC Office located at 22 Corporate Woods Blvd, 5th Floor - Conference room 115, Albany, NY

The University at Albany presents the Recipe for Success Conference 2018 on Tuesday, Mar. 13 (snow date Thursday, Mar. 15) from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is an interactive conference focused on preparing for the transition to college, designed for High School students with disabilities and their parents. The conference will feature the following workshops:

The Sage Colleges Esteves School of Education and The School of Health Sciences presents A Recreational & Sensory Based Community Event on Saturday, Mar. 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Structured based activities that help promote positive play, peer interactions, and exploratory learning for individuals in grades K-12 with developmental disabilities, their siblings and peers.

   

Participants have the opportunity to pick 4 different 20 minute activities that include recreation, arts, music and movement, content specific, and more. Groups are limited to 7 participants with at least two instructors. The instructors are graduate and undergraduate students whose activities have been approved by college faculty.
