Hi-5 Sports presents Basketball Season beginning in December. Hi-5 Sports strives to provide an environment which allows people with special needs to build self-esteem, confidence, and friendships through sports by providing opportunities to socialize, compete and exercise both their motor and life skills.

Basketball is offered for three skill levels including Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced.

Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center presents the 2018-19 Winter Reading Tutorial Program which begin the week of Dec. 15 and run through the week of Feb. 18, 2019. DSAHRC's Reading Tutorial Program provides 1:1 reading instruction to students with Down Syndrome ages 5 through adulthood. The Reading Tutorial program has been an effective program for students and individuals with Down Syndrome in gaining the critical reading skills needed to access education and other needed resources in their lives.

Camp Abilities in Motion presents physical fitness activities for children ages 3-14 with visual impairments, their parents, and families on Thursday, Dec. 27. Skill development will include throwing, catching, cycling, running, learn to ice skate and an introduction to hockey. Families attending will receive a physical fitness kit that includes:

  • Physical Education and Sports for People with Visual Impairments
  • Deafblindness: Foundations of Instruction book, beep ball and other adaptive sports equipment.

The first event will take place from 8:30 to 11:45 at the Saratoga Springs YMCA. The second event will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the Saratoga Springs Ice Rink.

Special Education Task Force presents the training Coordinating and Accessing Transition Services on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This presentation will demystify people's' fears about transition and coverage, and encourage school districts and guardians to work together in securing these services, what obligations parents or guardians have in helping students secure services, what programs are available, and the interplay of household income with these services.
