Support Parent Training

After completing our Support Parent Family Information Form, parents wishing to become a Support Parent must complete our free Support Parent Training.

Purpose of Training Our Support Parents

When parents sign up to become a Support Parent, they are asked to indicate whether they would like to complete their training in a group setting, by mail, or online.

Group Training - a group interactive training lead by Parent to Parent staff.  This training may be offered as part of a regularly scheduled support group meeting or as a break out session at a conference.

Mail Training - after completing the support parent information form your regional coordinator will mail you the training materials. You review the materials at your own pace and return a completion form.  Your regional coordinator will follow up with you to answer any questions you might have.

Online Training - after completing the support parent information form your regional coordinator will mail you the training materials and online training passwords.  You complete the six training sections at your own pace.  Each training section has a review section.  Your answers to the questions are forwarded to your regional coordinator who keeps track of your progress through the training.
